How to Deodorize Your Couch

When it comes to deodorizing, you need to get to the inside of the couch, so simply cleaning the fabric isn’t going to work.

Supplies you’ll need:

• Vacuum with an upholstery brush attachment
• Baking soda

Step 1: Start by vacuuming your couch. We recommend using an upholstery brush attachment. If possible, remove the cushions. Get off as much dust, hair, debris, and dirt as possible.

Step 2: Sprinkle the entire couch with baking soda and get in every crevice you can. If you have taken off the cushions, leave them off so you can reach as much of the couch as possible. You should be able to see a light layer of baking soda.

Step 3: For light odors, let the baking soda sit for 15 minutes. For extra stinky smells, leave it on for up to 24 hours to let the baking soda do its odor-removing magic.

Step 4: After letting the baking soda sit for your desired amount of time, vacuum it up with your upholstery attachment. You may have to change the bag or empty the canister to get up all the residue.
